Notorious (1946) is a gripping espionage thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, blending romance, suspense, and psychological tension into one of his most celebrated films. Renowned for its elegant direction, innovative camera work, and complex moral themes, Notorious is considered a high point of Hitchcock’s American career and a defining work of classic Hollywood suspense. Released in 1946 by RKO Radio Pictures, the film is not in the public domain and remains protected by copyright, but is widely studied for its lasting influence on thriller and espionage cinema. Cult Classic Cinema Archive presents classic films as historical works, preserved and shared for educational, cultural, and film history purposes. Some films may contain stereotypes, racism, sexism, offensive language, or other negative depictions that reflect the prejudice and attitudes of the time in which they were made. These depictions were wrong then, and they are wrong now. We do not endorse, excuse, or promote them. However, removing or hiding these moments would risk erasing the truth of history. By presenting these films in their original historical context, viewers can better understand the past, recognize harmful ideas, and continue learning from them so they're not repeated. Our goal is preservation, education, and reflection, not celebration of outdated or harmful views. Credits Director: Alfred Hitchcock Producer(s): David O.
