⭐ Animal Crackers (1930) Full Movie | Groucho Marx | Musical Comedy | Public Domain
Animal Crackers (1930) is a pre-Code musical comedy directed by Victor Heerman and released by Paramount Pictures. Starring Groucho, Harpo, Chico, and Zeppo Marx, the film follows celebrated explorer Captain Jeffrey T. Spaulding as he arrives at the wealthy Mrs. Rittenhouse’s Long Island estate for a chaotic society gathering involving eccentric guests, romantic complications, musical interruptions, and the theft of a valuable painting. Based on the hit Broadway musical by George S. Kaufman and Morrie Ryskind, Animal Crackers features some of the Marx Brothers’ most celebrated routines, including Groucho’s performance of “Hooray for Captain Spaulding,” Chico and Harpo’s musical showcases, rapid-fire wordplay, physical comedy, and relentless attacks on upper-class respectability. With Margaret Dumont providing the perfect dignified target for their comic destruction, this early Paramount feature is essential viewing for fans of classic comedy, pre-Code Hollywood, Broadway adaptations, early sound cinema, and the Marx Brothers at their anarchic best.
